Jus Mic is a talented, lyrically inclined, politically aware, and insightful artist with a passion for change, coupled with the power, and desire to evoke a change in the minds of his audience. He began his quest for transformation, through musical expression, when he was 20. Jus Mic is versatile and intelligent: he is an actor, singer, rapper, and poet. He is a seasoned artist with projects such as having hosted a local television show, to having worked with multiple Grammy award winning, gold, and platinum recording artists and producers. Jus Mic is certainly making his mark around his hometown and abroad.
Born from the wisdom and knowledge instilled within him from family members, and personal life altering experiences, his songs present themselves as poetry put to music. Jus Mic understands and respects the power of music to encourage change, using his music as a medium to do so. Having used music as a means of overcoming personal obstacles, his lyrics have the ability to uplift, offend, encourage, anger, inform, and heal its listeners. Jus Mic has been inspired by artists such as, Lauryn Hill, Ice Cube, Eminem, James Taylor, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, and Nas; and to name a few.
Jus Mic is clearly making an impact within the music industry, and has received incredible feedback from fans, fellow artists, and industry professionals. His quality music and consistency earned him a feature in Cleveland’s The Scene Magazines, as “Best Rapper” (2008), features on three Mick Boogie, and Terry Urban mixtapes; also being featured on the duo’s popular Shade45 Sirius Satellite show Press Play. He has gone on to do hundreds of shows stretching over a vast majority of the countries east coast, and though choosing to remain true to his underground roots has gained great respect from many major lables including Def Jam, G unit, EMI, Interscope, Atlantic, Warner Brothers, And Sony.
Jus Mic took the underground by storm with the release of his Jus Mic CD sample, hosted by Mic Boogie and Terry Urban, with 1.5 million downloads. He later released another hit mix tape, titled Poetry for Misfits, an equally hip-hop and spoken word album that quietly made its way through the underground scene to his extremely loyal fan base.
Although much time has passed, Jus Mic has remained very much a part of the industry, signing a songwriting deal with a publishing company. He is currently planning the release of his long awaited Studio album “Indefinable” this fall, and recently became the Third member of 10,000 Cadillac’s, along-side J-Mann and Skinny of Mushroomhead. The Trio have continued a roller-coaster of successful shows and appearances, with an album to debut in Early 2014.
